VODAFONE SAMOA NATIONAL SEVENS SERIES 2020

With the COVID-19 restrictions opening up, Samoa Rugby Union and its member unions have
started the ball rolling on planning national competitions.
And these will kick off with the first leg of the Vodafone Samoa National Sevens Series in the Big
Island next weekend.
SRU High Performance General Manager Seumanu Douglas Ngau Chun said it is important that
players start getting used again to elite competitions.
“The more elite competitions we have at Club and Provincial level, the more chances we have of
creating depth for our national selection.” said Seumanu.
The series legs will have parallel tournaments for men and women.
“This is a great opportunity to kick-off our National Sevens Series in Savaii to showcase the
skills and talent available in Savaii. It’s also a good chance for Savaii Clubs to get quality game
time with our Top 7s Club’s featured in Leg 1.” said Seumanu.
The tournament will be played at both the Don Bosco field at Salelologa and the Prince Edward
Park at Iva on Day 1: Friday 7th August, while on Day 2: the Play-offs will all be played at Don
Bosco Field.
SRU Competitions Coordinator Seiuli Salesa Seiuli said many teams have entered but there are
