The Australian High Commission in Apia has today announced a call for proposals to support COVID-19 economic
recovery in Samoa under the Business Partnerships Platform (BPP).
The BPP is a flagship initiative of the Australian Government. It supports partnerships with businesses to deliver
sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction, while also ensuring commercial returns for business.
“Businesses can help us to build a more resilient economy and stronger communities in Samoa. This is an exciting
opportunity for businesses to partner with the Australian Government to create livelihood opportunities, enhance
gender equality and support green and resilient economic recovery,” said HE Sara Moriarty, Australian High
Commissioner to Samoa.
The BPP can co-finance with businesses to support COVID-19 economic recovery in one of the following areas:
Health Security including to improve health systems and preparedness; access to medical and health
products and information; effective management of diseases and sexual reproductive health and rights.
Stability by supporting skills and job creation opportunities, especially for women and people with
disabilities; gender equality and addressing gender based violence; renewable energy, strengthening
natural disaster resilience and managing climate risk; and improving food security.
Economic recovery including improving supply chains and value chain diversification, revitalising export
markets; supporting digital transformation and e-commerce; and recovery in the tourism sector.
Businesses can apply individually or in a consortium. The Australian Government will provide matched funding of
up to AUD500,000 to successful business initiatives.
