Community Transmission-Cases Update
The Ministry of Health confirmed 245 new community cases as at 2pm Friday, 1st April 2022. This brings
the number of community cases recorded since 17 th March 2022 to 2,076 of which 583 people have recovered
and 1,493 remain active cases. Approximately 97 percent of community cases are in Upolu with the
remaining 3 percent in Savaii. There are still no community cases recorded for the islands of Manono and
Apolima Tai.
Community Cases by Age Group
According to the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of Covid-19 infection is significantly higher among those
aged from 15 to 35 and steadily increasing among those between the ages of 35 and 55. Infection among
children aged 4 and below is also increasing as well as those who are 65 and over. A total of 20,643 RATs
have been administered by the Ministry to date.
COVID-19 Vaccination Update
Samoa has administered in total 339,214 doses of COVID vaccines so far. This includes 36,806 doses of the
Pfizer vaccine for those aged 5 to 11 years; 48,647 doses of the Pfizer vaccine for the 12 to 17 year-olds and
a total of 253,761 doses (AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines) for those aged 18 years and over. According to
information from the Ministry of Health, 96.7 percent of Samoa’s eligible population has received their first
dose, 69.3 percent have received their second dose. There are 23,163 people of aged 18 years and over
recorded have received their booster shots. This data will be updated following the mass vaccination program
that is currently taking place.
