On Saturday 18 th June 2022, the farmers and fishers of Siupapa, Saleapaga of the District of Lepa hosted
their Talomua event. The Talomua was held at the Assembly of God church compound at Siupapa,
displaying various crops, livestock and fisheries as well as fine mats and other handmade crafts by the
village women committee.
The village mayor of Siupapa, Mr Utaulu Konelio together with the other village matais, welcomed the
guests with an ava ceremony. The Assembly of God’s church minister, Pastor Kuresa, conducted a
devotional service before the official opening remarks by the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon
La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataivao Fosi Schmidt.
The Minister acknowledged and thanked the organizing committee and the villagers who contributed to
the success of the event. He encouraged the village farmers and fishers to continue to work together and
focus on cultivating their fertile lands for their crop and livestock developments, and his Ministry will
continue to support these events to increase and sustain food, nutrition and income security for their
communities.
In support for the farmers and fishers of Siupapa Saleapaga with their agricultural developments, the
Ministry donated seeds and seedlings of vegetables, fruits and food trees as well as farming tools and
equipment.
