Following the released update on Team Samoa in Saipan on Friday 18th June 2022, SASNOC
is privileged once again to release another update on the team.
Team Samoa marched with pride amongst 19 other countries of the Pacific, at the official
opening of the 11th Pacific Mini Games last Friday evening.
After the first five days of the Tennis tournament, Eleanor Schuster has progressed to
quarterfinals in the Women’s Singles, facing Team PNG’s Violet Apisah. Women’s Double
Team, Mahinarangi Warren and Eleanor Schuster, has also made it to the quarterfinals
against Raulerson and Heras of Team Northern Marianas. Both our Mixed Double Teams
have successfully advanced to the second round, with the Men’s doubles Leon Soonalole
and Kristen Pavitt playing their first round today.
Weightlifting and Beach Volleyball tournaments kicked off yesterday, leaving Athletics and
Golf to begin today, Tuesday 21st June 2022.
All our selected weightlifters were verified at the Weightlifters verification meeting that
was held on Saturday 19th June 2022, and are all good to compete. They are well ready to
lift this week as the weightlifting competition proceeds.
Team Samoa are all doing well in Saipan, and continue to extend gratitude to all the people
of Samoa for their endless prayers and support. They are well taken care of by the Samoan
community in Saipan, who hosted Team Samoa on Sunday for Mass and Toonai. Faafetai le

With just days into the games, Samoa still stands at nil medals on the Medal Tally board.

Media Update on Team Samoa in Saipan (#3)

We continue to receive good news from Team Samoa in Saipan.
Our Athletics team had their first heats yesterday, and so far, results are looking very
promising. Johnny Key, Pesa Iakopo, and William Hunt competed in the different heats of
100metres, and have all successfully advanced to semifinals which will be today.
As of the end of Tuesday 21st June 2022, Samoa still stands at Nil on the medal tally board,
as the sports Team Samoa are competing in, are still in progress.
