Power week of training for Team Managers for Sports the SOL23 Pacific Games 2023 First Aid Training, Anti-Doping & Team Manager Refresher Course August 21st-25th, 2023 SASNOC

With three (3) months away from the commencement of the Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands,
SASNOC and SMADA (Samoa Medical and Antidoping Agency) continues to provide capacity
building trainings for its members in particular the various Team Managers that will travel to the

Games as support personnel for Team Samoa.

SMADA is one of the Commissions under SASNOC mandate. The power week of training consisted of
First Aid Training and Certification for the first three (3) days, followed by one (1) day of
Antidoping Awareness session and culminated with Team Manager Refresher sessions.
Anti-Doping awareness session was based on the 11 ADRVs (Antidoping Rule Violations). The 11
ADRVs are also referred to as “Doping” as these are the 11 definitions of doping under WADA Code.
Team Managers were able to discuss various scenarios and how they apply under the ADRVs.
Earlier in March this year, SASNOC held a Team Manager Course covering Design and Planning
Phase, Implementation and Reporting Phase. These are relevant information for Team Managers to
understand as they prepare their teams for Pacific Games and any other games. During the
trainings, experienced Team Managers were able to share their experiences and how those

experiences have shaped the way they manage their teams.

18 Team Managers from 12 sports have undergone all 3 trainings last week and will also receive
First Aid Certification from Red Cross. SASNOC and SMADA will be facilitating more trainings

before Team Samoa departs for Solomon Islands.

SASNOC would like to acknowledge the support of British High Commission office in Samoa and
SMADA in their continuous support for building capacity for our National Federations and
especially our Team Managers. Also acknowledging the support of our SMADA Chairperson Unasa
Natanya Potoi as well as the SASNOC Team of Master Educators of Salā Stella Siale Vaea Tagitau,
Fa’amausili Taiva Ah Young, Tuala Matthew Vaea and Sulā Tagifano So’onalole-Sam Chong for

facilitating the Team Manager Refresher Course.
