CrossFit Fatu Toa’s Inaugural Toa Competition: Fitness is Your Shield Against Sickness

Today, Friday 15 November, Apia Park will burst into action with excited spectators and
determined athletes as CrossFit Fatu Toa hosts its 9th annual Toa Competition. On Saturday, the
competition will move to Fatu Toa’s gym in Vaitele for day two, marking another chapter in what
has grown from a small in-house event into one of Samoa’s premier fitness competitions.
This year’s theme, “Fitness, Your Shield Against Sickness,” reflects the idea that true fitness is a
state of “super health.” Health markers like blood pressure, heart rate, and glycated haemoglobin
(HbA1c) all move in a positive direction as fitness improves, creating resilience against illness
and aging. Pursuing fitness strengthens our resilience against illness and supports a longer,
healthier life. CrossFit Fatu Toa is proud to partner with sponsors to present Toa 2024, Samoa’s
leading fitness showcase.
Launched in 2016, the Toa Competition has expanded tremendously, attracting athletes and
fitness fans from across the region. Co-owner and Coach Brandon Sefo reflects on this evolution:
“It’s amazing to see how this event has grown. What began as a simple team challenge for our
gym community to celebrate their progress has become a major event on Samoa’s fitness
calendar.”
The Toa Competition is more than a test of strength and endurance it’s a celebration of
community and inclusivity. The event warmly invites athletes of all fitness levels and
backgrounds, creating a space where everyone feels valued and encouraged.
“We’re thrilled to welcome new athletes competing for the first time, alongside familiar faces
returning to the Toa Competition,” Coach Brandon shares. “Our goal was to create an event that
not only challenges athletes but also brings people together to share their passion for fitness.
Whether you’re an experienced CrossFit athlete or a newcomer, there’s a place for you here.”
Over two days, athletes will face a series of intense workouts testing their strength, stamina, and
agility, with the chance to display the results of their hard work and training.
We are very grateful for the invaluable support of our sponsors, whose contributions have made
the 9th Toa competition possible and continue to strengthen our event year after year: National
Bank of Samoa; Ah Liki Wholesale; Sublime; Taula Beverages; Petroleum Products Supplies;
Eveni Sport; JJ Hansell Electrical Engineering; Faleolo Airport Lounge; Adira Sports; Ministry
