Students of Lona Primary School will be sitting their final exams in a whole new environment after the
completion of their school buildings’ renovation with 4 added classrooms.
Lona is one of the Ministry’s most vulnerable schools in terms of location and especially during
cyclones and cyclic weather seasons.
About a month ago the Prime Minister also spoke at the dedication of another school project by the
Government of Japan acknowledging the generous assistance by the Japanese government to the
people of Samoa.
The Government and People of Japan have yet again made contribution to the Education Sector with
funding of new classrooms, rests room and renovations of Lona-Fagaloa’s current school building.
Funding of the project was done through a grant from the Japan Embassy together with donations by
the village of Lona.
The Prime Minister is astounded with the continuous generosity of the Government of Japan to
Samoa in terms of the development of the Education and other sectors.
The Ministry of Education Sports and Culture strives to provide the best education for all students.
This is made possible with great assistance from our international counterparts who play a significant
role in making sure the children of Samoa have learning environments that is conducive to learning.
A huge congratulation to the village of Lona and all the parents for their commitment in ensuring
students of Lona have access to a brighter future for generations to come.
A special opening ceremony was held at the school compound tomorrow where the Hon Prime
Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Dr Sailele Malielegaoi delivered the keynote address.
The ceremony was witnessed by members of the cabinet, diplomatic corps, invited quests as well as
students and staff of Lona Primary School.
