HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY FROM BANGKOK

As the world joined in the commemoration of the International Women’s Day 2024, the Chair of the Board
for the Samoa Victim Support Group (SVSG), Ms. Tanya Toailoa is sending warm greetings and
congratulations from Bangkok to all the women of Samoa.
Ms. Toailoa is representing SVSG to the ECPAT International regional workshop in Bangkok, Thailand,
gathering Executive Directors of the ECPAT membership, to take collective action to end sexual
exploitation in Asia and the Pacific.
The in-personal regional workshop is timely, given our dependent on social media for communication and
networking, and how this posed a challenge to online sexual exploitation and abuse being manifested in
some of the Asian region.
The workshop is also relevant as we commemorate the International Women’s Day 2024 on the theme
‘Inspire Inclusion’, as women are amongst the most vulnerable to sexual exploitation and abuse due to
gender, social and economic status.
As a human rights defender, SVSG continues to advocate for the rights of the vulnerable and the
marginalized members of the community, usually women, girls and children.
On this International Women’s Day 2024, SVSG is calling on the women survivors of domestic violence, of
intimate partner violence and of gender-based violence, to be inspired to be included. “You are an
inspiration. We value your inclusion.” Siliniu Lina Chang, SVSG President
